In the Middle of it All
by Linda Stehling

In the middle of the fruit's succulent flesh lies a seed;
Waiting to sprout forth reborn and anew.
In the middle of the rich, sweet earth lies a root;
Nourishing and replenishing the Herculean tree.
In the middle of the garden lies a universe complete;
Dancing to Nature's melody.
Executing her destiny.
Sans questions or thought.
In the middle of a man lies a heart;
Busily spewing life through mortal flesh and bone.
In the middle of that heart lies a spirit;
Clamoring and reaching, searching and delving.
Striving towards that thing bigger than he.
