Human Being Machines
by Jonathan David Levine

Human being machines,
drunk from caffeinated coffee,
work their lives away for green colored paper lies
that were manufactured by hate demons
in exchange for happiness
and birthday wishes that never came true.
Some say it's worth becoming a slave
for materialistic dreams
but the others,
the smiling as-free-as-a-bird leeches,
claim that a take, take, take philosophy
is a better way to reach credit card plastic and bottle water paradise.
And the working class, who dig their own graves
for forty hours a week in silent repetition,
have been saving their pennies since childhood
and will be rewarded with death
since there is even a price for that.
